The wintery weather shouldn't keep anyone at home. Restaurants are crowded and, more importantly, new places continue to open at a breathtaking pace in every pocket of the city. I have my own list of places that I thought I'd share. However, getting a table at any of these hot spots could be difficult.
Hot List
[Cicchetti]
Cicchetti | Chef Mike Sheerin, Phil Rubino & Sarah Jordan
Opened Monday, December 16, word is still out on this new Italian mega-space from rock star Sheerin. But with the power team they've assembled, we're excited to feast at Cicchetti.
Tanta | Chef Gaston Acurio
Everyone raves about this Peruvian spot for the assertive dishes and great space. Opened since August, it's still tipping the scales.
Dusek | Chef Jared Wentworth
The gang from Longman & Eagle head to Pilsen for this "hearty, farm-to-table" menu with food-focused beers. Word from a reliable source is that Dusek's has a flair for presentation, friendly people, beautifully prepared dishes and an interesting wine list. Now, just get everyone jazzed about going to Pilsen.
Nico | Chef Erling Wu-Bower
People are crazy trying to dine at Nico but I hear mixed reviews. One Off Hospitality who brougth Chicago our beloved Avec along with Blackbird, Publican, Big Star, Violet Hour and PQM, now bring us an Italian restauarant in the Thompson Hotel in the Gold Coast. If nothing else, thank you for bringing us something valuable near the Viagra Triangle. Thus, Nico is top on my list.
Summer House | Chef Jeff Mahin
Who doesn't want a little California right now? Muchas Gracias to the Mellman kiddos for their California-influenced, American restaurant in Lincoln Park. They somehow always manage uber cool places with menus that please everyone. Sign me up for a little escape to Summer House during our winter wonderland.
