Iron Chef Morimoto is headed to Chicago to celebrate his collaboration with Japanois by hosting a soft launch party on January 29, 2014 to benefit Common Threads. From 6:00PM – 9:00PM, guests will sip on champagne and craft cocktails, tour the new restaurant space and enjoy a sumptuous assortment of Chef Masaharu Morimoto’s sushi and signature dishes from Japonais by Morimoto as well as some of Chicago’s hottest chefs, including but not limited to Stephanie Izard (Girl & The Goat); Rey Villalobos (Table Fifty-Two); Takashi Yagihashi (takashi. and Slurping Turtle); Mindy Segal (Mindy’s Hot Chocolate); Paul Kahan and David Posey (Blackbird and One Off Hospitality Group); Dan Compton (Vie); and Jacob Saban (Graham Elliot Bistro).
Mixologist extraordinaire, Shingo Gokan, 2012 Bacardi Global Legacy Cocktail Competition winner, will create craft cocktails for the evening, highlighting Japonais by Morimoto’s new shochu and sake bar.
Japonais by Morimoto will donate proceeds raised this evening to Common Threads. The sole charity beneficiary of the evening and founded by Chicago’s very own, Chef Art Smith, Common Threads provides nutrition, cooking and gardening classes for children and families representing cuisines and cultures from all over the world. Supported by chefs from all over the country, the organization is based in Chicago and also serves Miami, Washington, DC and Los Angeles.
General Admission tickets are available for $150 and VIP tickets are available for $250, giving guests access to special seating and table service. Tickets are available on Common Threads site here.
