On Thursday, May 16th from 7 - 10 PM at Terzo Piano, top chefs from coast to coast will kick off the inaugural benefit for The Academy for Global Citizenship (AGC), an innovative Chicago public charter school located in the underserved southwest side that uniquely weaves in concepts of environmental stewardship, international mindedness and whole student wellness. Terzo Piano Chef/Partner Tony Mantuano, along with Bon Appétit Management Company, will host the Inaugural Chefs’ Playground to benefit AGC.
Guests will enjoy tastings of childhood favorites from participating chefs including: Tony Mantuano (Spiaggia, Bar Toma and Terzo Piano), Jimmy Bannos and Jimmy Bannos, Jr. (The Purple Pig), Rick Bayless (Frontera Grill, Topolobampo and Xoco) Iron Chef Jose Garces (Mercat/Garces Group), Hedy Goldsmith (Miami’s Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink), Jason Gorman (Art Institute of Chicago/BAMCO), Sarah Grueneberg (Spiaggia), Paul Kahan (Avec, Big Star, Blackbird, The Publican and Publican Quality Meats), Bill Kim (bellyQ, Urbanbelly, Belly Shack), Jeff Mauro (Host, Food Network’s “Sandwich King”), Megan Neubeck (Terzo Piano/BAMCO), Giuseppe Tentori (Boka and GT Fish & Oyster), Marcela Valladolid (Author and Host, Food Network’s “Mexican Made Easy”), and Takashi Yagihashi (Takashi and Slurping Turtle). Chefs' Playground will also feature a silent and live auction, cocktails and beer from local distilleries and Chicago-based DJ Greg Corner will be spinning throughout the evening.
“What AGC does is nothing short of amazing,” said Fedele Bauccio, CEO and co-founder of Bon Appétit Management Company, which partners with the Art Institute of Chicago and Tony Mantuano to manage Terzo Piano and the museum's food and beverage operations. “We too believe that you're never too young to start learning how to protect the planet. We’re proud to be part of this team effort.”
As an international learning laboratory and incubator of scalable innovation, AGC is dedicated to transforming systems of education, including the construction of a net-positive energy prototype campus on an 11-acre urban farm. The sustainable design, construction and operation of the facility will bring green jobs to the community and create a home for piloting emerging clean technologies.
